About Us

The idea of Adventure Park and Hotel Vista Golfo began to take shape 16 years ago in the head of Dietmar Maier when he came to Costa Rica for a fishing trip. He returned a few weeks later with his wife Barbara and their three weeks old son Daniel to surprise them with the piece of lush wilderness he bought in impulse to build with them a piece of paradise.

Dietmar took all his knowledge from hiking in the german alpines and put his experience from travelling around the world into their project building an adventure park. Creating an place for exclusive adventures was not their intention as they settled down in the Montes de Oros (Gold Mountains) in Costa Rica but it lead to an exciting place. Starting by offering Rooms for travellers they added step by step, activity by activity what is now known as Adventure Park & Hotel Vista Golfo. Dietmar's invention of a far more secure breaking system than the usual standard in Costa Rica soon spread all over Costa Rica adding a higher level of security to Canopy Tour operators. He said once: "It is like the invention of the wheel; nobody has to pay to use this. I am just feeling glad knowing that Canopy Tours are now much more safer in many parts of the country - and who knows maybe it will spread all over the world."

Having worked in the tourist industry as a flight attendant, Barbara used her experience to create an atmosphere of cordiality, dedication, familiarity and individuality. In the Adventure Park & Hotel Vista Golfo everybody should feel as a guest far away from the everyday working routine. According to the many positive recommendations she achieved her objective succesfully.

Besides the realization of the famous german service and quality standards they made the protection of the Costa Rican nature another priority and introduced sustainable tourism in their family business.

Today the Adventure Park & Hotel Vista Golfo consists of the only Costa Rican Canopy Tour which crosses waterfalls, another Canopy Tour with a very long cable named after their son Daniel, the biggest High Ropes Course in Costa Rica, an ATV Fun Park, a Low Ropes Course for children, a Climbing Wall, two trampolines and offers a Horseback Riding Tour and hiking trails as well as ATV and Cloud Forest Tours (for further informations of all the other activities please visit www.adventureparkcostarica.com).
